
President of Kino International and co-president of Kino Lorber Inc. helped to introduce filmmakers to the United States, like Wong Kar-Wai, Michael Haneke and Amos Gitai.
Donald Krim, president of Kino International and co-president of Kino Lorber Inc., died Friday at his home in New York after a battle with cancer a year. He was 65.
Krim helped establish a number of directors as president of Kino International, including Wong Kar-Wai, Michael Haneke, Amos Gitai, Aki Kaurismäki, Julie Dash and Andrei Zvyagintsev.
A funeral service was scheduled for Monday at 11:45 am at Riverside Memorial Chapel, located at 180 St. W. 76 to New York. The service is open to the public. A memorial service was scheduled for late June
Professional career in the Crimea, she received the Mel Novikoff Award San Francisco Film Festival 2000 work, "strengthen public understanding of the film in progress and the appreciation of world cinema." Six years later, Krim was William K. Everson Film History Award National Board of Review. E 'was also honored with the Award Honors Anthology Film Archives film preservation, the same year. After graduating from Columbia University with a degree in American history and a law degree, Krim worked at United Artists, where he met Bill Pence, who founded Kino International, while working for Janus Films. In 1977, Krim has acquired the business and began expanding, the release of new films. In 1987, Kino International has opened a section of Entertainment Kino on Video, which became the most respected independent labels in the field.
Over the years, Kino International has published several influential films, including Shohei Imamura's Vengeance is mine, and Ballad of Narayama, Percy Adlon Sugar Baby; crime scene André Téchiné, Michel Khleifi Wedding in Galilee, Volker Schlöndorff The Legend of Rita, Alila Amos Gitai and Kedma, Wong Kar-Wai's Days of Being Wild, Kelly Reichardt's Old Joy, and Yaron Shani Scandar Copti Ajami and dogtooth Yiorgos Lanthimos.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Fresh Air Fund, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Red Hook Rise.
