Media Matters Launches Campaign Urging Advertiser Boycott of Fox News Channel

The new site of the progressive watchdog group seeks DropFox.com all advertisers on the network, starting with Orbitz Worldwide, to advance their spots.

Glenn Beck, it turned out, was just a warm-up on Media. This week, a progressive watchdog group has launched a campaign aimed at all companies that advertise on TV at Beck's house, the Fox News Channel.

Campaign headquarters is a website called DropFox.com which was unveiled Monday. Front and center on the site, the team targeted advertiser: Orbitz Worldwide.

Next Orbitz Logo Wednesday was a picture of Beck on the motto, "Buyer Beware: Why advertisers should be careful with financial support from Fox News."

Click on the photo and it takes you to maps and data to show that the boycott of her television show organized by Media Matters has led to shun Fox News advertisers and ditching him, despite high ratings.

Orbitz is a target because of DropFox online travel agency has been lesbians, gay, bisexual and transgender community of Media Matters told Fox News malignancies.

Fox News did not respond to requests for comment. Beck, however, his radio program Wednesday played down claims that many advertisers have left, and notes that the Forbes Celebrity 100 list published Wednesday in the row over this year than last year.

Blasting Fox News is nothing new to questions from the media, although people say the site DropFox and his campaign is more organized attempt to dictate what content should be acceptable in the cable news channel leader at. Media Matters has coordinated "a wide range of stakeholders" to help.

"The goal is to show DropFox Fox News that these behaviors are bad for business, and their bottom line would be better if they decided to become a new organization responsible for," reads the efforts of the mission.

Media spokesman for the questions did not clarify why he chose Orbitz his first order of business, but confirmed that this is the first of many companies.

Orbitz, however, shows no sign of it dump on Fox News.

"Media Matters is a local politician trying to score from the headlines, which are completely off base," said a spokesman for the THR.
