Taylor Swift looked almost as surprised as many of the public, when he won the Cup, the Academy of Country Music Awards, beating artists such as Premiere and Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum. It was his first victory.
The show included several winners of several years, a handful of artists dominated the awards, including Lambert.
The 27-year-old clearly had the best year. Won four awards and was nominated for seven years.
But the artist of the year honor is decided by fans voting through the Internet, and Swift, 21, legions of fans seriously.

"This is the first time I ever won and I'm losing my mind," said Swift.
"The fact that this is the fans are so beautiful ... You're the best thing that ever happened to me, never," he added.
Swift, who has a new album coming in first his new song, "Mean" who takes pictures of his critics noticed how she sometimes breaking notes.
Lambert topped Swift top singer. It was his second straight win.
His song "The House that built Me" won for best song and video of the year.
Lady Antebellum took two awards from the album, and was named top vocal group, is also the second year in a row.
Guitarist Brad Paisley won top vocalist for the fifth consecutive year.
"Honestly, I'm surprised, I really am," he said. "It's much too much for me."
The price of the new artist, "came from Perry's band, a trio of brothers and sisters in Mississippi.
Rihanna and Jennifer Nettles were the hit of the night with their duet "California King Size."
The Barbados singer wore a white mini dress with a tight top with fringe and a fiery orange hair cut pixie.
The star of Sugar Land wore a black and purple tube equipment.
There were some big losers. Kenny Chesney with five nominations, and Keith Urban, with three returned home empty handed, just like Carrie Underwood.
